Note: I am interested in what the plague was that swept north Georgia in the 1890s and killed the family buried in the William Alexander and Manaha McAlpin Old Indian Graveyard. I do not know the name of the family or what disease killed them.
Bubonic Plegau known as the Black Death, was caused by starving people eating rats
The Black Death, also known as bubonic plague, was caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, which was spread by fleas that lived on rodents. While rats were likely involved in the spread of the disease, recent research suggests that they may not have been the primary cause.
Rats, however, are not the cause of Plague—its pathogen—rather, just like human hosts, they are victims of the disease. The actual pathogen is a bacillus (a form of bacteria.
• The Black Death killed millions of Europeans during the Middle Ages.
• In Europe alone, it wiped out an estimated one to two thirds of the population.

When did it end?
• The Black Death ended in Europe in 1353.
• The pandemic was considered active until 1959, when worldwide casualties dropped to 200 per year.
How did it affect people?
• The Black Death killed up to 60% of the population of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
• The plague was a major cause of population decline in Europe.
Debbie was up at about 5:30 am and got breakfast for the children before Abby and Carter left for school. About 9 am she took Mckay and Andrew to school. I did not hear back on my phone call and text message from Michael yesterday. I sent him an email and copied Autumn on it regarding the purchase of 3 nursing homes in Georgia. Dan and Susan called. They were filling out the 10-year convent land covenant in Haralason County, Georgia. I read to them about Rebecca Brown Mitchell page 112, from Sharon McMahon's book The Small and the Mighty. Autumn called and later Michael and Autumn both called and we talked about my purchasing the 3 nursing homes in Georgia, one in Rome, Floyd County, and two in Cleveland, White County. Debbie picked up flowers for Abby at Costco and then went to see a play, Little Women at Hale Theather in Sandy, Abby took Andrew with her to get her nails done for the senior prom tomorrow evening. When they got home Abby warmed up dinner Debbie had cooked before she left. After dinner, Abby worked on hemming her dress for the prom tomorrow night. She called and talked to Stephanie, her mother, in Cancun for help. Later Patrick came by with Audry and Braddock and picked up Carter to ride back home with them. Ryan and Stephanie will pick him up tomorrow when they get to Utah from Mexico. Debbie called from Sandy, Utah, and was on her way home. I had prayer with Abby, Mckay, and Andrew. The boys wanted to eat again; they brushed their teeth but still took some time before they went to bed. Abby is on the sewing machine working on her prom dress for tomorrow evening. She has basketball practice early in the morning. She has to leave here by 6:30 am. I planned to take Mckay to his basketball game in the morning but Debbie said she wanted to watch him play. I will watch Andrew while everyone is gone. I read and waited for everyone to go to bed and Debbie got home at about 12:30 am. We had prayer, got ready, and went to bed at about 1 AM.
