Note: I have almost finished the book, The Small and the Mighty by Sharon McMahon. One of the stories is about Rebecca Brown Mitchel whose husband died in Illinois in the 1850s. Her treatment by the state is so unfair I have not been able to get it out of my mind. While I was awake in the night my mind started connecting dots or things I remembered and knew about. The story of Emma Hale Smith who was a widow in Illinois a few years before Rebecca, did not match what Sharon had written. I do not doubt the truth of what Sharon has written about Rebecca Brown Mitchel, but I question what may have not been included to make the story so terrible as to get my anger up and turn me against the lawmakers of the state of Illinois. I knew Governor, Thomas Ford, had a part in the death of Joseph and Hyrum Smith on June 27, 1844 in Carthage. It did not take much to get me more upset with the political leaders of Illinois at that time in history, but what Sharon is presenting regarding Rebecca Brown Mitchel is nothing like the way Emma Hale Smith was treated. I went to the court records of Illinois for information on Emma and it was nothing was like what Sharon was presenting as to the way Rebecca was treated. Introduction to E. Smith Administratrix of the Estate of JS; E. Smith Administratrix of the Estate of JS, Hancock Co., Illinois, Probate Court, 17 July 1844–18 September 1844 W. & W. Law v. E. Smith Administratrix of the Estate of JS Hancock Co., Illinois, Circuit Court, 25 October 1844
I was up at 6:30 am, had prayer, showered, and shaved. I mopped the salt that was tracked on the hardwood floors from last weekend. I talked to Debbie in Sacramento while she was on her way to her and Karlene's meetings today. I tried to renew her TSA/Globel Entry pass but I did not have all the information needed. I will complete it when Debbie gets home. I called Citi Bank Costco Visa about the interest I have been charged on my card. The department heads will review and reply in about 3 days. I talked to Alex and Carter. We are having lunch at Zupa. I am going to loan them 2024 Quotes and Thoughts to read. I tried calling Wells Fargo almost an hour about a loan to purchase three nursing homes in Georgia. I would meet one dead end after another and would be cut off. I said a prayer and knew I was not going about this in the right way. I met Alex and Carter at Zupas Cafe in American Fork. We had a nice meal and then went to Chic-fil-A for desert. I loaned them a copy of Quotes and Thoughts from my 2024 journal. They gave me a book, The Great Divorce, by CS Lewis a response to William Blake's book, The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. I went to the Adobie office in Lehi just off the I-15 to get some help with converting Blogger data into a pdf or word format to be printed but was told this office only does sales. I came home and checked the mail, read, and at 8 pm picked Debbie up at the SLC Airport. She flew in with her sister, Karlene. When we got home and got ready for bed it was about 10:00 pm. We had prayer together before going to bed.
