Andrew Davis' 11th Birthday
Luke Hobbs 16th Birthday
Debbie and I had prayer together. I got a text from Michael and Matthew last night. Michael is sick with the flu. I texted Andrew through his mother's cell phone wishing him a happy 11th birthday and Luke a text on his mobile phone wishing him a happy 16th birthday from me and Debbie. Debbie and I attended Sacrament, Fast and Testimony meeting. Two babies were blessed by their fathers, and many testimonies were shared. We attended Sunday school; Brother Peck taught the class. After church, we came home. Matthew called on his way home from a daddy-daughter campout with Bella and Ava. Melodie is with Madeline at a cheer competition. Matthew told me he had played tennis and had lunch with Michael this past week. He told me because I copied Autumn on the text I sent to Michael his hands are now tied he can not be involved in the purchase of the 3 nursing homes, Floyd, Gateway, and Friendship. The money he would have used for the purchase is in a joint account with Michael. His part is not enough to purchase or manage a loan. He said without a miracle he see no way for the purchase to go through. Later I talked to Michael. He is getting over the flu and is behind in work, but he said he has plans to go to Buchanan and renew the 10-year tax covenant with the farm and the State of Georgia this month on his way to Miami, FL. He talked about playing tennis and having lunch with Matthew but did not mention the purchase of the 3 nursing homes and I did not bring it up. At 5:00 pm Tyler, Samantha, and Josephine, "Jocie" came over and brought their NordicTrack treadmill. Tyler set it up downstairs for us. They had it in storage and leaving it for us to use freed up more storage space for them. Debbie wanted to see if she liked it before buying one. Debbie had a very nice dinner prepared and we ate at about 6:30pm. We watched a movie, All My Sons, about Donald Wayne Meyer, a college basketball coach born December 16, 1944, and died in 2014. The garbage disposal is starting to go out. I read and studied. Debbie and I had prayer together before going to bed. This evening I was studying some of the early history of the Church in Brazil, the story, of Robert Lippelt and his family."Here the Mormons will not find me". He and his family moved from Bremen, Germany to Brazil in 1923. At that time the Church was not in Brazil. He moved his family to Ipokeia and said "Here the Mormons will not find me." I also read some of the early history of the Church in Ireland because my family and Charles A. Callis (1865-1947) was from Ireland and served many years in the Southern States Mission. One store was of much interest about the Old Irish Prophecy. During 1885 Elder Edward Clyde was tracting in Edenvale and upon knocking at the door of a country cottage he was invited in by Mrs. Margaret McIlvane after hearing the gospel the Irish lady soon joined the Mormons and later related some unusual experiences which led to her conversion according to her account in 1850 while she was still a young lady Margaret and her father in law Robert McIlvane were sitting in a room when a neighbor lady came to the cottage the neighbor addressed the old gentleman saying Robert can you answer me this question which of all the churches will the Lord come to when he comes to the earth again, the old man knocked his stick against the chair in which he was sitting and said,
“He will not come to any of them none of them are right none of them are accepted of God but there will be a church arise and come forward which will be accepted of him and to which Jesus will come when he returns to the earth. You and I will never live to see that church.”
Margaret McIlvane said the old man spoke very emphatically and seemed certain of which he was predicting he and the lady to whom he spoke died not long after his remarkable prophecy. After the death of her father-in-law Margaret could not forget what he had said. She began searching and soon proved that none of the churches she knew of was preaching the same gospel that she read of in her bible. She stated that she often pondered over the statement of the old man and prayed to God to bring her the true gospel as she felt the true church was upon the earth, if necessary, she claimed she was willing to wander over the whole world to find it. In 1860 she said she had a dream in which she saw the Book of Mormon and later in 1880 another dream disclosed the face of a young man, which made such an impression upon her she never forgot it. So five years later Elder Edward Clyde knocked on her door and she recognized him at once as the person seen in her previous dream. She recognized in his message the gospel for which she had been searching and when the Book of Mormon was presented, she immediately recognized the writing as that seen in the dream twenty-five years previous. It was an unusual experience for both the Mormon missionary and the old Irish woman who according to her testimony saw the fulfillment of a prophecy of an old Irishman.
