Father's Day
I was up at 6:15 am, had prayer, showered, shaved, and got ready to the day. I texted Debbie, and she called. We had prayer together, and she wished me a happy Father's Day. I sent texts to all the fathers in my family wishing them a happy Father's Day. I told Matthew and Melodie last week when they were talking about celebrating today, that all Sundays are the Lord's days, and once a year we get to honor Fathers, and the Father of us all is Heavenly Father. I want to keep the Sabbath Days special and holy by not working or having others work on the Lord's Day. I drove to church at the Double Peak Ward, 2255 Felicita Road, ESCONDIDO, California. I attended sacrament and priesthood and met Matthew and Melodie's former bishop, Dave Pyatt. The Relief Society served chips and cheese dip with root bear for the brothers to celebrate Father's Day. Later at home, we all walked down Pearl Drive to the cul de sac at the end of the street where Madeline, Bella, and Ava rode their electric scooters. I called and talked to Beth; I am going up to spend the night this evening. I took a nap and finished packing the rental car. Enterprise will charge me for the toll road to the Newport Temple on June 8th. Matthew smoked and grilled stakes for the adults, Melodie, Vickie, Madeline, him, and me, and hotdogs for Bella and Ava. Melodie and Vickie made fried potatoes, corn-on-cob, and salad. After dinner, the family had Father's Day cards for Matthew and me. I left at 7 pm and drove up to Beth, Tucker, Maggie, and Andrew's. I parked the rental car in a different area outside Beth's neighborhood and spent time with the family. Beth told me what she said in church about her father, "He gives the Lord credit for anything that people want to praise him for and when things don't go well for him he accepts the blame and doesn't blame the Lord". I am impressed and pleased she has seen this in my life and hope all the children and grandchildren also see it. Debbie and I joined Beth, and the children for family prayer. Tucker led us in prayer. I brushed my teeth and went to bed before 10:30 pm.
Father's Day hug for Grandpa and Matthew from Melodie, Madeline, Bella, and Ava
